Rendering issues

Explains things that can go wrong while rendering. We call it “rendering” when a digital object is shown on a screen. Rendering has to do with giving access to a digital file, which after all is the core principle of digital preservation.

The examples in this section will show that rendering does not always work well, due to various causes. This could be because the rendering software does not support all the features of the file format it renders. Or the rendering software was made for a contemporary version of the file format and you try to render a previous version of the file format, because the supplier told you it was compatible.
